If you’re looking for a The Ordinary Regimen for Over 50, look no further. The Ordinary makes some great anti aging products at an affordable price point.
Here’s a breakdown of what your anti aging routine should look like:
Morning
Evening
This article will explain everything you need to know to build a The Ordinary anti aging routine.
The Ordinary Anti Aging Morning Routine
Follow this The Ordinary regimen every morning for great anti aging results.
Step 1: Cleanser
You don’t have to cleanse your face in the morning, but if you’d like to, The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser is a lovely gentle option to start off your day.
Step 2: Vitamin C
Vitamin C is the second best anti aging ingredient we have in skincare behind retinol.
It acts as a tyrosinase inhibitor to fight uneven skin tone. Plus, it works synergistically with your sunscreen to help protect your from free radicals and excess UV exposure!
This one from The Ordinary combines a gentle, stable derivative of vitamin C called tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate (THD) which targets multiple signs of aging with vitamin F and squalane.
While I don’t like this vitamin C serum as much as I like C+C Serum from Stratia, this is still a good affordable option that should be suitable for sensitive skin concerns.
Step 3: Hydrating Serum
A good hydrating serum can help improve skin radiance and support your skin barrier while you’re using active ingredients like vitamin C and retinol.
I love The Ordinary Marine Hyaluronics for specific skin concerns like dehydration and dry skin which can occur more often as skin ages.
In fact, I think this one is even better than The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid serum with B5.
Step 4: Moisturizer
This is an awesome moisturizer for all skin types to improve your overall skin health and support your barrier. In fact, the formula closely mimics your natural skin barrier and includes a great amino acid blend that you’ll love.
For best results, be sure to apply it to damp skin to help lock in hydration.
Step 5: SPF
Personally, I am not at all a fan of The Ordinary’s mineral sunscreen.
Even though it has a slight tint, this one leaves a pretty bad white cast with a matte finish. So if you have a medium to deep skin tone, I suggest choosing something else.
In that case, one of my personal favorite sunscreens is Elta MF SPF 46.
The Ordinary Anti Aging Evening Routine
Follow this The Ordinary evening routine for any mature skin concern.
Step 1: Cleanser
You can always use the same squalane cleanser from the morning for the evening. In fact, it should be great at removing makeup!
That being said, if you have oily skin or you’d like something to clean out sweat and oil that accumulates throughout the day, this is an awesome cleanser.
Step 2: Retinol
I’m not the biggest fan of The Ordinary retinoids, but this is probably my favorite.
This product includes a unique retinoid derivative called hydroxypinacolone retinoate which has been shown to fight multiple signs of aging with less irritation than others.
Retinol has anti aging benefits like:
Speeding up turnover of dead skin cells
Stimulating collagen production
Reducing fine lines and wrinkles
Fighting skin texture
If you’re looking to build an anti aging skincare routine, it definitely should include a retinoid!
Step 3: Buffet + Copper Peptides
Peptide serums are an awesome addition to any anti aging routine, and they complement retinol nicely.
The Ordinary Buffet Serum is a great product at an affordable price point. I like this one because it’s formulated with some great anti aging ingredients like:
Matrixyl 3000
Lactococcus Ferment Lysate
Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7
All of these ingredients help with improving skin elasticity and collagen production.
I also love that this product has a ton of great hydrating ingredients like urea and sodium PCA making it suitable for dry and sensitive skin.
Step 4: Moisturizer
You can go ahead use this same moisturizer during the morning and evening.
It’s a phenomenal affordable moisturizer, and remember, moisturizing is an essential step for healthy skin.
Step 5: Facial Oil
The rose hip seed oil from The Ordinary is one of my favorite facial oils of all time.
It’s affordable, lightweight, and really helps lock in hydrating hyaluronic acid and other skin loving ingredients from your moisturizer.
If you have an oily skin type, you can probably skip this step. But hey, if you have dry or dull skin, I highly recommend using this facial oil as the last step in your skincare routine.
